TALON- Spanish Horse, American Indian Horse

We love all of our beautiful equine friends.  Each horse, just like each human being, is unique.  Talon is a pony that I would be so lost without.  He is a horse that can be pulled from the field after a long vacation and counted on to last chore.  There isn't anything I can't do with this horse!! He is very intelligent and has a wonderful sense of humor.  He and a couple of other horses on this farm have really pulled their weight and spent many years supporting the other herd members by doing pony rides, parades and renaissaince festivals earning the hay and feed needed to make it through dry seasons or harsh winters.  The sad truth though, is that horses like Talon, Snickers, Fancy, Peanut Butter, Belle or Cloudy don't come along but once in a lifetime.  We are very grateful to have them in our herd!

Snickers- Shetland Pony

While all Shetland Ponies are not terrible I'm sure, my experiences with this breed had not been pleasant until I purchased this sweet little fellow.  He was found at a sale barn at a mere 7 or 8 years of age, destined to be sent for dog food.  He had been injured while being gelded and had come to develop fluctuating patellas (floating knees).  Snickers was not sound enough to put someone over 65 pounds on for trail rides or long distances but what he could do is pull a cart in a parade and give the kids pony rides for short duration.  Snickers has been with MHR since 1995 and spent over 12 years giving kids pony rides and earning hay money for the herd.  Snickers is now over 20 years old and since retired to spent his days eating with the herd and giving an occasional ride to a small child.  Another once-in-a-lifetime pony that has earned his way and won our hearts for the duration of his days here at MHR.

Belle- Azteca (Andalusian/AQHA)

Belle came to MHR in late 1999.  Belle is as beautiful inside as she is outside.  She is gentle and kind and has NEVER been mean at anytime since we purchased her.  She has a fine pedigree coming from a pure spanish Andalusian stallion, Majorio III and AQHA mare Dude's Golden Beauty.  She has repeatedly been and excellent mother to her young and has produced wonderful offspring that is both great tempered and easy to train in any discipline.
